TWISTED METAL BLOW OUT!

Hey ya’ll, David Jaffe here again.  Welcome to the official Twisted Metal Blog! So glad you stopped by!

Well, we’re just a few days away from the launch of Twisted Metal: Head On: Extra Twisted Edition.  I gotta tell you, when I was a Sony employee, the launch of a new game was a crazy exciting time.  All that work, all that love and passion shoved onto that little disc…it was just an amazing feeling.  And man, when you held the box in your hands for the first time…pure magic!

Well now that a bunch of us have left Sony and we own our own shop, the excitement is even greater!  I can’t wait for our new baby to hit the shelves this week!  And I hope some of you readers of today’s blog feel the same!  If you’re digging on the Twisted, here’s a media blowout to help get you even more excited.  And if you’re still on the fence, maybe these clips will push you into the ‘I gotta buy that game the second it hits shelves’ camp!

Here’s a clip of enhanced gameplay (new graphics, 60 frames/second, gameplay tweaks) from the Moscow and Egypt level of TMHO:

Here’s some gameplay footage from the suburbs level of the Lost Levels of the game:

And finally, here’s a few clips from THE DARK PAST, the documentary that covers the history of the series.  We had a blast putting this doc together and can’t wait for folks to get the new game so they can watch the whole thing.

So there ya go!  All that and tons more…for less than twenty bucks!  'Wow!  That is a bahagin for me!  I think I will buy some’ (1980’s reference…deal with it, younguns!)

Ok, that’s it and it’ll probably be our last Twisted Metal updates before the game ships.  Hope you give our baby a try!

Thank you!

David

Hi David,

Great to see a new release of this outstanding game. I am however a little dissapointed that the online game play has been removed. This was one of the best features of the game. Bots are cool but no match for any TM pro.

Anyway great to see the game finally coming out even without online play.

I have always enjoyed the Twisted Metal Series and this game is going to be great, Dave you are a god in gaming truely from the God of War days to this.

I can't wait to play it and review for tripletags.com, actually I am making up a couple of Gamercards just for the game launch on Feb 5.

Do you guys (Eat Sleep Play) have your own website too?

Posted on 01.27.08 00:42 AM by Zookey

I just want to know if we can expect a Twisted Metal game for PS3. I would love to see Twisted Metal come to PS3.

Posted on 01.27.08 01:46 AM by codemiester

Jaffe not sure if you have read the IGN review, do you think it was fair?

Either way I am picking this up, I can't wait for the 5th/6th (depending when GameStop gets them).

make a patch for tm2 for online play

Posted on 01.27.08 04:09 AM by leftover_crack

Looks good.
But...bringing Twisted Metal over to the PS3 will sell millions of copies...more then Motorstorm and even MGS when it comes out!!!

Posted on 01.27.08 05:56 AM by Station-PSP

i agree with number 15

it would be the best game to sell with ps3

Posted on 01.27.08 06:02 AM by leftover_crack

awesome man. Twisted metal is back in black.
Hopefully eat sleep and play does the next gen version. Jaffe you rock man.

Posted on 01.27.08 06:14 AM by leftover_crack

how do u feel about other car combat games like full auto or something

do u like them?
hate them?
only like tm?

Nice. Way to go guys & gals of EAT SLEEP PLAY.

Posted on 01.27.08 06:56 AM by EViD

Hey, I love the TM series so much... and I don't want to have to resort to starting a petition... so you should just go ahead and remake Twisted Metal 2 on PS3 with online play.

Posted on 01.27.08 07:13 AM by DooM-

I was interested in the PSP game, but the same game on the PS2 with extras is what excited me for this version.

Posted on 01.27.08 09:44 AM by HartKnight

Don't believe all the reviews you read, if there are any bad about this game, I'm pretty determined they're wrong, or bias, From what I've read/heard and understand of the new head-on on ps2, it's definitely worth picking up, and at such a low price how can you afford not to... let IGN be a bunch of dick wads, or whatever media publisher etc, trust your heart, with the simple amount of blood, sweat, and tears that went into this title as a whole, and I mean that literally, every PlayStation gamer in the world should go buy this out of respect, and adoration, and this is something I would normally never say, but it is how I feel.

Posted on 01.27.08 11:47 AM by TRUTHC3LL

Thanks for this great collection guys. Certainly one I am going to pick up.

Posted on 01.27.08 15:24 PM by The_Game_2005

Hi guys! I love TM1, TM2, and TM Black, this one will be no different from those. I will be picking up TMHO the day its out. I really hope you guys make a new TM for the PS3, you have no idea how much it would sell.

Thanks,

david

do u reply to the comments?

Posted on 01.27.08 15:46 PM by leftover_crack

You should definitely bring the series to the PS3, seriously. A lot of people would buy a PS3 just for the game, yet alone the people that already have a PS3 and are patiently waiting (like me). Even if you can't pull through with a full game, just release TM2 on the PSN with fully-updated graphics, you know how much money you would make?

Posted on 01.28.08 02:26 AM by CBR7

david jaffe i have a couple questions

1. is tm ho coming to the ps store, i read it on the twisted metal forum on the ps site?

2. do u use the twisted metal forum or do u even look at it? if so whats ur username?

3. why did u leave sony ?

4. whay isnt there a tm game for ps3 yet and why havent u said anything about it?

thx

Posted on 01.28.08 02:38 AM by leftover_crack

Lol at most people caring more about a TM PS3 than this game. Which brings me to my next question? It's not like this game will have add on content or anything, so why make a blog for it?

Posted on 01.28.08 03:24 AM by Neon Reaver

^

cause its a blog for the whole series not just this one game

Posted on 01.28.08 03:36 AM by leftover_crack

david

what character do u like the most?

Posted on 01.28.08 03:37 AM by leftover_crack

alright, in my opinion tm black was the best in the series so far. the amazing graphics and storylines were awsome, i was well satisfied with this game, despite the comments saying that it was too chaotic etc, i think that if u are to continue the series after head on, then you should continue with the same kind of chaotic wrecklessness of the characters and the overall game.

Posted on 01.28.08 03:41 AM by jeremy

i am excited to play TM HO. the fact of the free roaming w/ sweet tooth is a great idea, this game should definetly be a great success, i am a big fan of the tm series, so keep em' comin....

Posted on 01.28.08 03:44 AM by jeremy

sweet tooth is FRICKIN SWEET, of all the games ive ever played he is my fav. character.

Posted on 01.28.08 03:57 AM by jeremy

^
did u ever play as warthog or thumper?

Posted on 01.28.08 04:22 AM by leftover_crack

The whole series huh? Then why is Head On the only featured game? Unless there's more on the way! Maybe I'm looking into it to much.

Posted on 01.28.08 04:47 AM by Neon Reaver

Ok I just watched the video with Jaffe. He looks
like he just woke up. Yeah the "future" of the
series. Hmm. I miss Twisted Metal Black. I wish
I hadn't traded it.

Posted on 01.28.08 04:50 AM by Neon Reaver

^ i think every one that traded it is mad about that

Posted on 01.28.08 05:01 AM by leftover_crack

wow, the twisted metal franchise is great. its about time we get an other one. but where is the ps3 twisted metal. what id like to see, a downloadable, multiplayer only on psn by early 2009. that would be great. awesome graphics, new and old maps, upgradable cars, please make it happen. if not eat sleep play do it, maybe incognito will.....

Posted on 01.28.08 05:56 AM by DARZERO

Only on PSN? Bleh no. That means we would get 10
cars and a few tracks. With add on characters
costing 99 cents. No nickel and diming. I think
mostly everbody wants a FULL retail game. A
complete game with a story, online, lots of extras, the works.

Posted on 01.28.08 06:06 AM by Neon Reaver

everyone does want that

jaffe,

this is somthing twisted metal fans like myself have all been waiting for. not only does it have sick graffics, classic characters, and awsome stages, but its a great game that we can all experience, especially those who cant afford a PS3. stay cool big dawg.

Posted on 01.28.08 11:36 AM by ruben

Why does this blog not have a word wrap? Every
last word is cut into of everyone's post with me.

Posted on 01.28.08 13:09 PM by Neon Reaver

Oh thanks so much Dave. I can't say how much I truly appreciate this PS2 release of TMHO. I saw on one of the gameplay videos, Darkside did some sweet ram damage and it brought tears to my eyes. I already have this fully paid for, and will be standing outside my local retailer store before it opens, staring in the glass window waiting for them to unlock the doors. Maybe if I make an awkward face he'll let me in early. Also thank you for the TMS music. Drop Dead is my favorite TM Track ever, and I was so excited to see another remake of it.

So I'll say it again, thanks so much Dave, this is truly a blessing and I will be playing this with my friends until my PS2 overheats and explodes. Laughing

man, this games gonna be oozing with awesomeness...btw jaffe, u gotta make a new one 4 the ps3 someday...U JUST GOTTA MAN...just think about it...with all that power the ps3 has, it would be the greatest car combat game EVER! there would be so much $hit blowin up, it would just be complete madness! hell yeah! hahaa...well g2g 4 now...peace out man...

jaffe, think u need to think abut a tm for ps3

every 4/5+ people mention tm for ps3 on this blog and dont even say anything about the port

Posted on 01.28.08 14:58 PM by leftover_crack

Hey, I still love the port, but I would also like the idea of a PS3 TM. That isn't what this post is about though. It's about the port, which I think we should all be grateful for.

Posted on 01.28.08 15:40 PM by KilrgrnTMA

Interesting to see how many people were attracted to this site in the two days it has been up for! That means that you guys are doing an excellent job.

But what is even better is that you guys are actually trying to connect with the [gamers] community itself, and listening to them. Rarely any companies try to establish a connection with their fans. I respect you guys a lot for this, and for the efforts you've done with this game.

As for the game, what can it really be said about it? It's an absolute steal for it's price. Tons of extras for a small price.

I love the fact that you guys really tried making something more than just a mere port of a three year-old handheld game, and added tons of neat little stuff. Even though I have yet to play the game (tuesday can't come faster!), it really shows that it is going to be absolutely awesome! And knowing how you, David, like to work (or at least judging from your previous works), it makes it even more obvious that the game's gonna be good.

Enough ball-licking comments, you know you're awesome, David.

Best of luck to you and the whole Eat.Sleep.Play crew. Looking forward to hearing more news (and blog posts) from y'all. I also look forward to probably work for you guys sometime in the future (aspiring programmer).

Posted on 01.29.08 16:10 PM by stuntmankiller

david jaffe make a tm for ps3

we dont care about graphics

it could be as good graphics as tm black

just make a tm for ps3

Posted on 01.29.08 19:34 PM by leftover_crack

once again jaffe youve done an excellent
job with the twisted metal dynasty. who
the hell needs a PS3 when u got kick ass
gameplay and tons of other extras, not to mention awsome graphics. sorry
leftover_crack. but i seriousely think youll be waiting a long time till they make
one for the PS3 according to jaffe when
they previewed the game on that show
ON THE SPOT. im sure you can get ur hands on a cheap ps2 at gamestop.

Posted on 01.29.08 21:44 PM by ruben

^and i think differnt

i think that this will be the small brawl to twisted metal black of the ps2 and ps3

Posted on 01.29.08 21:49 PM by leftover_crack

well i respect ur estimate as we all have our entitled opinion, but relax man, ur
makin it sound like this game is gonna be a dissapointment before it even gets shipped out. its like that lame old saying: dont count ur chickens before they hatch.trust me, so far there hasnt been a twisted metal game thats been a big dissapointment. enjoy the present before u get into the future bud.

Posted on 01.29.08 22:08 PM by ruben

^ tm3 , 4 was a disappointment and so was small brawl

Posted on 01.29.08 22:20 PM by leftover_crack

like i said were all entitled to our opinion, but what makes you think a ps3 TM wont be a dissapointment, and why do you think this one will be?

Posted on 01.29.08 22:23 PM by ruben

TM3 and 4 were real disappointments because they were made by 989 Studios. TM Small Brawl was a great game, there just wasn't much time for it when it was being made. There is no possible way TMHOETE is going to be a failure, especially with the low price and all the extras.

Someone seriously needs to mod Leftover_Crack. Can't you be happy with what you're basically being given? It's only $20 and you get allll those extras. You are seriously unappreciative and have some issues.

Anyway, I'm grateful for the new game tomorrow. Keep up the excellent work and thank you for listening to the fans.

Posted on 01.29.08 22:30 PM by KilrgrnTMA

couldnt have said it better myself, well
put kilrgrn. keep up the good work jaffe. you da man.

Posted on 01.29.08 22:44 PM by ruben

^^

i got a ps3 for series that i had a gut feeling were going to be continued on it

mainly twisted metal, jak and daxter, ratchet and clank

and no they turn around and make it for a last gen system let alone an exclusive to only be on a last gen system?

and what fans is he listening to f there isn't a tm for ps3 made?

and who ever doesnt want that therefore wouldnt be a fan so therefore he is listining to 0% of the tm fans if there isnt a tm for ps3 made

Posted on 01.29.08 22:51 PM by leftover_crack

Kilrgrn is right. For the price and extras it is a steal. For someone like me who never bought a PSP and has never played Head On, my excitement is enormous. I am on TMA'S and these boards everyday until I get the game home.

Small Brawl was a letdown for me but is NOT a bad game. If you put the time into learning its nuances you'll see what I mean. I am more harsh to TM3 and TM4, though. They just sucked, particularly TM3.

Glad that your love of TM is so deep that you want it so much for PS3. You ain't alone. It was Sony's call when it came to this amazing port. Its their call as to whether it makes it to PS3...

Posted on 01.29.08 23:23 PM by DarkEde

^i refuse to buy last gen games but i know i will go against my word and go out tomorrow and go get this game cause i need to get an upgrade from tm2

Posted on 01.29.08 23:27 PM by leftover_crack

did anyone else ever notice that warhog's special's missile things were red white and blue?

Posted on 01.29.08 23:28 PM by leftover_crack

first of all, if you call urself a
twisted metal fan or a hardcore gamer, then
ur sadly mistaken.buying a PS3 with no
info on the series you want to cont is
just plain retarded and a waste of money.
face it; you screwed up and if u were
a real fan, the generation of consoles
shouldnt matter especially when it was
made exlusively for one console. you cant
go wrong with 20 bucks. if anybody here
thinks leftover_crack should seriousely
call himself a TM fan lemme hear it, cuz
i think he seriousely needs to get the
memo before he makes assumptions.

Posted on 01.29.08 23:51 PM by ruben

Leftover Crack, E.S.P. has 3 unannounced titles in the making, so please shut the **** up and wait until they announce them before going talking **** in here.

Posted on 01.30.08 00:06 AM by Joker_mx

exactly, and E.S.P is a growing comp.
and needed to start with a PS2 game before
they can go above and beyond. like joker said. shut ur pie hole and wait. when u
look at the ratings for this game youll
see not only our point, but the game world as well.

Posted on 01.30.08 00:18 AM by ruben

Wow leftover crack wants a PS3 Twisted Metal more than I do it seems. I want really bad, but I can wait patiently. I just hope by Jaffe mentioning the
"future of the series" that means we might get one. The PS3 is very powerful or so it seems. Think of the possibilities.

Posted on 01.30.08 00:20 AM by Neon Reaver

its definately true that a PS3 version
would make a big impact on the series and
the fans, but little snots like leftover_
crack who say theyre not gonna pick up
a kickass game weve been patiently
waiting for just cuz its for a last generation console are ungretaful idiots. you
cant just walts in here and demand the
future when somthing great has been given.

Posted on 01.30.08 00:29 AM by ruben

wikipedia says that there is a tm game being made for ps3 on david jaffe's page

it said it for like 2 months and i didnt mention it cause i thout it was fake

is it true?

it not in any stores within 200 miles of me?

why not isnt it released today?

Posted on 01.30.08 15:07 PM by leftover_crack

The release date = the day after for almost every title. If it's released the 5th it will be in stores the 6th. How many times have you posted in here?

Posted on 01.30.08 15:34 PM by C-h-a-o-s

^ alot and i usally get games on the release date

well atleast guitar hero 1 2 rocks the 80's and 3 and i used to get crash bandicoot games the day they came out

Posted on 01.30.08 16:40 PM by leftover_crack

ok even the biggest moron knows that most
of the stores get the game on the shipping date wich is the day after the game is
released. do us a favor but crack and
stop posting in here just to bitch and
whine.

Posted on 01.30.08 17:05 PM by ruben

^ its logic for a game to get on the shelfs on the day it is release on

the stores even had it and they said they cant put it on shelfs until tomarrow

Posted on 01.30.08 17:19 PM by leftover_crack

anybody know if its going to work on PS3?

Posted on 01.30.08 17:43 PM by stuntmankiller

funny i called a few stores to see when they are going to have it...and they get all pisseee since they never heard of it!!

Posted on 01.30.08 17:46 PM by stuntmankiller

anyone ever play that army men rts game for the pc? the little green men...that was awesome..would be great if jaffe could get rights to it and do the job nice for a new intstallment on the ps3

Posted on 01.30.08 17:52 PM by stuntmankiller

Stunt don't get your panties in a bunch. It's not an entirely new game, it's a port with a poop load of extra's.

Posted on 01.30.08 18:02 PM by C-h-a-o-s

i guess theres more idiots than leftover_
crack that just dont get the memo.if anyones listening please read.there was never gonna be another twisted metal until the
designers broke from sony and formed their
own franchise known as EAT SLEEP PLAY.
they need to make a PS2 exclusive before
they can take it to the next level. wich
they will they already have 3 titles to anounce in the making. so all u dudes who
keep bitching about a PS3 version now
know the facts of whats goin on with TM.

Posted on 01.30.08 18:04 PM by ruben

i played the psp version...i will buy this ps2 version for the extras if it will play on the ps3

Posted on 01.31.08 03:32 AM by stuntmankiller

in english....is it backward compatable?

Posted on 01.31.08 03:33 AM by stuntmankiller

Uh, why bother? Someone must have some extra time on their hands while some next-gen titles are being created. At least I hope this is what the deal is. Twisted Metal as a next gen game would be amazing. I just hope you stay Sony exclusive.

Posted on 01.31.08 05:36 AM by klexam001

Stuntman it is backwards compatible. Jaffe said he would be playing it on his 80 PS3 if I recall.

Posted on 01.31.08 07:14 AM by Neon Reaver

Could have been 60 gig I'm not sure. Either 99.9
percent of new PS2 games released work on the PS3.

Posted on 01.31.08 07:14 AM by Neon Reaver

20GB SKU = backwards compatibility enabled through software; plays most of the PS1/2 games, and more will be added via firmware updates
40GB SKU = no backwards compatibility at all; no PS2 game will work with this version
60GB SKU = it has the "emotion engine" chip (hardware used in the PS2), so it plays ALL PS2 AND PSX games.
80GB SKU = same as 20GB version

Posted on 01.31.08 09:32 AM by Joker_mx

thank..i freakin hope so i will buy it today

Posted on 01.31.08 13:34 PM by stuntmankiller

Oh thank you Dave! I just got this game!!! The art book is beautiful, and I'm downloading TMS right now.

Thanks again so much, I highly appreciate this.

Stay Twisted.

Pumped to play the game but my code doesn't work for the sound track. Not sure what's going on with this.

Head on.. apply directly to your PS2.
Head on.. apply directly to your PS2.
Head on.. apply directly to your PS2.

ya ok that was lame but I soon hope to pick up this game despite the IGN review. the psp version was decent but I like the big screen and even though I am a fan nothing can beat TM2. Take everything in TM2 improve the graphics add some carachters and maybe some new weapons and fetaures and you got a top seller on your hands.

Just picked up the ETE and it is sweet. I'm searching everywhere for the hidden info on EAT SLEEP PLAY's next game. Anyone find it yet?

Posted on 01.31.08 23:15 PM by Casey

We need a lossless release of Twisted Metal Symphony. 256kbps MP3 is an insult.

Posted on 02.01.08 00:27 AM by Megalith

i found one of the facts in the sweet tour it says..you cant die in this mode,so be thankful..next time we wont be so king...maybe that is a clue...

Jaffe you and your team are geniuses! Major props to everyone at Eat Sleep Play who worked on this. Your bottle cap intro is a nice touch as well.

CHAOS you playin it on the ps3?

Posted on 02.01.08 01:48 AM by stuntmankiller

No PS3 I can't afford one. I played it on the PS2, the sweet tour has some sound issues I think. It went quiet after a certain point. The only sound that was coming out was the save option.

Posted on 02.01.08 02:05 AM by C-h-a-o-s

TMBO players know me as ViolentB or VB,played it online till the day the server was shut down.I know why Jaffe or GOD said TM2 was better then TMB,agreed till they came out wit TMBO which changed gameplay entirely.RE:A TMO

Posted on 02.01.08 02:58 AM by Bryan

ETE's extras are great BUT and don't get me wrong i love what eat.sleep.play did and why they did for the great extras. But again not online and don't like the controls like i did on TMB...please can't be THE END!!!

"Twisted Metal is Coming on PSThree"

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!

Posted on 02.01.08 04:28 AM by Ven0m_TMA

Picked up TMHO for PS2 today and must say. Wow! I can't believe I only had to pay $20 for this! This is an incredible game. I've loved the Twisted Metal series from the start and it's so awesome to be able to get background history on the series itself and the creators of the series. You are a talented team and it's not overlooked! The Twisted Metal series is one of my favorite franchises and I would be extremely upset if this is the final game in the series! Either way, you've done a fantastic job on the new game and I just wanted to let everyone know that this game is well worth the $20!

Keep up the great work! Oh and uh...the PS3 would be a great platform for a new Twisted Metal game...just saying.

Posted on 02.01.08 04:49 AM by joshp18

AWESOME game, simply put, i am having such a blast playing this so far and i haven't even played the lost levels yet. i think that most game sites are being a little harsh in saying that the graphics are bad, i'm actually surprised to see how good they look! the documentary was really nice and the behind the scenes sweet tour material was really great to see. i gotta say man, i love the twisted metal series (not fond of 3 and 4 personally) and god of war, they are so deep and so fun, but the characters/vehicles that you deleted like the school bus and tractor would be so fun to play. that's what makes unlockable vehicles so neat is they dont' have to be the best cars. you mentioned that a certain realism has to be kept, but i think the way all of the pictures looked would come out even better in a game. please, dont' let this be your last twisted metal. i've beena fan since the first one and even moreso the 2nd game. the ps3 would make things so much more smooth and realistic, like some of those early art sketches of the suburbs with the people playing basketball and jumping out of the way onto the hoop and the mail truck with the mail flying out of the car, i would LOVE to have little things like that happening while i play, as you know it's always the little things that amount up in the long run that make a game special. thankyou for releasing head-on for the ps2, i never got a chance to play it on the psp and i could only hope that god of war chains of olympus makes a port too. THANKYOU!

Posted on 02.01.08 16:04 PM by leeum

This is seriously the best thing I've ever spent 20 dollars on. Thank you so so so so so much. This game is amazing, and the new physics are great!!! I am mesmerized by how great this title really is.

Thank you Dave and all of ESP. You guys are fantastic.
Stay Twisted.

Called in sick to play TM Head On ETE. It was so worth it!

The documentary totally rocks, along with all the tidbits on the Sweet Tour. Its all fascinating. Although David was way too easy on TM3 and TM4.

I am having a blast getting through Head on. Game play wise the Lost levels feel nearly flawless.

Thanks David, Scott, Kellan, Michael, all at ESP for this totally packed game.

Posted on 02.01.08 18:29 PM by DarkEde

dude im psycked to play this game!!!! i couldnt get it yesterday cuz of teh gay weather....but im getting it 2day, from all tghe good stuff ive been hearing about this game, im super jumpy and stuff cuz i wanna play it so bad, btw sweet tooth's awsome, and the way u guys made warthog back to the classic version with the patriot missles is awsome, tyvm jaffe im mega sure imma enjoy this game.

Posted on 02.01.08 23:24 PM by jeremy

I picked up TM Head On for PS2 yesterday and spent the entire night searching for any clue that a PS3 version of TM was in the works. I enjoyed all of the bonus material, but was disappointed to hear the commentary mention that TM “had” a good run and was present on 3 systems. TM still has plenty to offer in a market saturated with FPS and RPGs we need vehicular mayhem. I spent countless months in college blasting my buds to bits on TM1 & 2. I bought my PS3 solely on the promise of Warhawk (disappointed in it becoming online-only, btw) and now I hold out my hopes for the PS3 ever becoming great on the chance of TM making a presence. I agree with your comments on the documentary, Jaffe. TM2 was by far the best combination of vehicle movement, locations, and overall fun. Black had a nice feel, but the vehicle movement seemed slow and choppy–particularly for a hardcore fan of Specter like me. Please bring back TM, and give us one that feels like TM2, with possibly some of the eeriness of Black–but most importantly with PS3 graphics!!!

Okay, that’s the end of my begging and ranting.

Posted on 02.02.08 00:44 AM by randrac

So, apparently the code has been cracked or the secret has been found and Twisted Metal is coming to the PS3! Now I just hope it isn't some rinky
dink PSN game. Also maybe I'm looking into this
to prematurely.

Posted on 02.02.08 02:43 AM by Neon Reaver

"As for how it's get distributed, no comment" Looks like I'm not getting hyped for no reason! Jaffe did confirm it. As I've been saying over and over again I really hope it isn't a PSN game. I want a
full brand new Twisted Metal game.

Posted on 02.02.08 04:52 AM by Neon Reaver

where is the secret trailer?

Posted on 02.02.08 04:56 AM by Joshua

i hope that they bring back the classic Minion from TM 2

Posted on 02.02.08 04:57 AM by Joshua

There isn't any secret trailer. It's a series of
numbers that when matches up to their alphabeticalcounterparts say something like "Twisted Metal coming to the PSTHREE" or something like that.

Posted on 02.02.08 05:56 AM by Neon Reaver

Jaffe also confirmed it earlier as well.

well where r these numbers?

I just got the game the other day, and I love it!
I glad you made this game, Twisted Metal is still probaly my favorite series to date! My favorite
is Black, second favorite is 2. I think if you
guys were to continue to makeing Twisted Metal, I think you should make a Twisted Metal series that continues Black, and one that continues the
original. I love this colective edition! My
favorite part of the game is the Lost levels, I already have Head-On for PSP, ok I think this commennt is long as it needs to be, thanks for creating an awesome game!

Posted on 02.02.08 10:15 AM by Sam

I reserved my copy and am so glad a new twisted metal came out for ps2. I havent been able to afford to make the jump to ps3 yet and have bought every twisted metal game already. Its been a long wait and there isnt alot of new (and good) ps2 games left in the pipeline but this is a godsend. One of the very first games i played on psone was twisted metal1&2 and having these two games on one disc with the extras is the coolest collection special edition ever. Thanks for the late night cycles to start all over again. I had Head-on for psp and the graphical improvements are immediately noticealbe. Great Job! Too bad there isnt more to Lost, but it still is awesome, and id rather have coop w my bros and friends than online in this case, so thanks for that too. Keep up the excellent work and keeping my ps2 happy.

Posted on 02.02.08 11:52 AM by kevin8r

I am huge fan of Twisted Metal and owned all of the games from the playstation days. I reserved Twisted Metal Head On Extra Twisted Edition and picked it up today. I don't have a PS3 yet but am excited that Twisted Metal is coming to PS3. I haven't played the game yet but know I am going to enjoy it. I owned Twisted Metal Head On for psp and thought what it would like if it was ported to PS2. The dream became reality and now I can play Twisted Metal Head On with my PS2.

Posted on 02.02.08 12:04 PM by legendofwrestling

I'm a huge fan of twisted metal, I started with TM2 and that game just appealed to me in such crazy ways i was like 8 playing it and spectre has always been my fave, I got Head On for ps2 today and its refreshing to see all that history and it madem e proud to have been a part of it for so long, Twisted Metal PS3 is a must, I almost need it Smile If you guys kep making Twisted Metal ill always bey them thanks for giving me something to grow up with!!!

found somethin interesting in paris for tm fans.if u use cousin eddy but better wit dark tooth and have screen zoomed far away.back up to the brick wall next to the row of cop cars on ur right,u'll be able to see like pics of missles, rockets, gas, lightning inside of wall and they change when u change ur weapon.

Posted on 02.02.08 17:40 PM by Bryan

Twisted Metal has always been one of my favorite franchises of all time. I seriously think that I have cumulatively played Twisted Metal 2 more than any other video game in my life. Hours and hours of co-op and head to head battles with my college roommate brought me so much awesome entertainment, and I'll never forget it. TM 3 & 4 were huge disappointments. When TM Black came out we had both graduated but still lived together and were overjoyed to finally have a worthy sequel to our favorite game of all time. Looking back, I agree with Jaffe in that Black's gameplay was not quite up to par with TM2's. I was so used to the controls from TM2 that it was a little difficult to adjust to the differences. Specifically, I remember having trouble with reverse driving, and the changes that were made to the power moves. I also think that the feel of the cars was a little looser than in TM2. All that aside, it was clear that the game was created by the guys who made TM2, and that was what mattered most. I love TM Head-On on my PSP, and I love having the port on my PS2 now. I think we should all feel very grateful that Jaffe and his crew care enough about the fans of this series to give us such an awesome package like this. I loved watching the documentary, and I really loved what that one guy said near the end: that what he loved so much about TM2 was that it never gets old no matter how many times you play it. I have always felt exactly the same way, and I really hope that the new version coming to PS3 captures the magic that TM2 had. Thanks to everyone involved for making Twisted Metal such an incredible series, and thanks for making this website so that I could share my thoughts with you!

Posted on 02.03.08 08:50 AM by VicViper99

Hey David, Thanks for the awesome port of
Head On. I didn't own a PSP, so this is my first foray into this game, and I must say I'm loving it. I'm also a big fan of
Calling All Cars, despite the reviews. Keep
up the good work, and good luck with
Twisted PS3 :p

Posted on 02.03.08 10:16 AM by Nosferatu79

Although vicviper i agree TM2 kicked ass,but i hope the next TM on ps3 will be like black.Black was so perfectly leveled out even for each character, nobody totally dominated like u would in 2 wit axel if u guys rem...also i loved the control of the cars and the control figurations.

Posted on 02.03.08 13:05 PM by Bryan

whats the hidden secret?

Posted on 02.03.08 15:47 PM by stuntmankiller

jaffe said there is a secret in the game where he tells what the next game that ESP is working on...did anyone find it..he guessed someone would post it within an hour of the games release.Where is the 24th factoid in the sweet tour

Posted on 02.03.08 15:55 PM by stuntmankiller

it said METAL ON PSTHREE

Posted on 02.03.08 16:06 PM by leftover_crack

u saw it...where can i find it?
have you played the sweet tour?
what do i do after i climb lader and get the 23 factoid?

Posted on 02.03.08 16:38 PM by stuntmankiller

In the clip of the dark past if you look carfully it says right after the Eiffel Tower falls, it says to the left 13 05 20 01 12. Which I think spells out METAL, I didn't notice it when I watched on the game. So I think leftover_crack is right about the secret.

Sorry, accidently hit Submit.

I'm a HUGE, Fan of this series. I played every game. Even 989's crappy versions. But i did it for the love of the series. My all time favorite level is Paris: Monumental Disaster!! I love that one the most. My other favorite is Holland: Field of Screams, Hong Kong: Hong Kong Krunch, & TM1's Freeway Free For All. My favorite character is MINION & Darktooh.

Thanks SONY for the best car combat series EVER!

Posted on 02.03.08 18:43 PM by emerio

You guys at Incognito/Eat Sleep Play are freaking geniusses. If you ask me, there wont ever be a company that can produce a better demolition derby from hell the you guys, that is, without copying from your series. The only problem I've had thus far is in Twisted Metal: Head-On. The characters aren't balanced out as well as they could be. But thats not a big enough problem to open controversy, I think. Besides, any good player should be able to wreak havoc against cars that have better stats anyways. Although I did enjoy blowing S**T up as Dark Tooth with his Napalm Cone chain guns, I'd have to say RoadKill is my favourite car. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I think the game would be made even better if there were more Tower Tooth challenges. I'm curious. What was the team's inspiration for the Demolition Derby From Hell?

P.S. Marcus Kane rocks! Yes, you too, Needles.

you must beat the lost levels on hard difficulty to view the bottom of the note...
someone help me with the sweet tour ...cant find 24th factoid

Posted on 02.03.08 19:18 PM by stuntmankiller

Well, as for the factoids...I'm not 100% sure which one is the 24th...but if you are at a part where there is a glass dome on top of one of the buildings, you can punch through it and drop down to reveal more factoids. If this isn't where you are...most of the factoids are pretty easily "hidden" if you just walk around and search enough you should be able to find them no problem. Hope I've helped Smile

Posted on 02.03.08 20:52 PM by joshp18

Also...I have to say I'm EXTREMELY pumped about TM on PS3!! Jaffe...you are the MAN!! Coming up with a series like this...blows my mind...the characters are awesome, the gameplay is awesome, and the mood of the series as a whole is phenomenally creepy...which is AWESOME!! I love the series and can't wait for it to continue.

Hey there Dave i'm a big fan of the series and i have to throw this question at you we know that 6 of the key developers in a plane crash then does Small Brawl replacing Black 2 to aim at a younger crowd doesn't it make it a second reason why Black 2 was cancelled or was it just 1 reason which is very sad to heard.

stuntman,

To get the pizza homers launch off the movie
theater roof's ramp doing a turbo and jump at the last second. Took me a few tries the first time

Man, listening to the Twisted Metal Symphony brings me back to when I first started playing Twisted Metal, the soundtrack to each game is so awesome!

Posted on 02.06.08 07:39 AM by Sam

Dude this game is the best, i knew nothing about it until the last minute and i didn't even need to look it up for info, once i saw there was not only going to be a new twisted metal but that it had new features and sweet tooth walking mission i almost died because i didn't have it yet.haha so i went out and got it and bam! its amazing, i love the past info and stuff its great! Oh and Twisted Metal 2 is still the best ever, but its always nice to see new games come out so we know you didn't forget about the greatest fans in the world! OH! A twisted metal movie is long over due! I remember the first time i saw and played twisted metal... and all i could think other than "blow up that ice cream truck" was that this would make an awesome movie! Some may not like the idea but i sure as heck would!Infact if i were to ever be watching tv and completly unaware that a commercial for a twisted metal movie was coming out i could quite possible die on the spot!haha however i would ask calypso to grant my life so i could see it,hahahaha. BUt seriously man, a movie would be the best thing that has ever happened in my life! Be xcareful though, if it sucks it'll take a while to come in effect at first but then it'll be basically the end of my life, no im not threatoning to kill my self just being dramatic...Do it right and ill be humbly your servant for ever! well i guess i cant because i already am but hey, we'll work somethingout right!hahaha TM

i like that when you jump in the lost levels it doesnt use any energy.
I also really like that you can change between 3 different views,my favorite is the top view, which i think maybe jaffe may like as well since that is also how calling all cars is.

Hi there, i'm a big fan of all TM series...
i'd like to thank David and the rest for porting Head-on to PS2, i bought the PSP version but the control and graphic are better in PS2 and the bonus stuff is incredible. also i notice there's some improvement on TM black gameplay
i can feel the difference on the car crash effect compare to the regular TM black, also the drift.

I hope there will be new TM in PS3 and please bring back darkside and old school minion! i'd pay $200 for that game and i'm not joking!

Great work with the game! Love Twisted Metal and the little updates on the graphics are sweeeeeet! It's just too bad you guys couldn't do more with the Sweet Tooth game though. It was all good though. Thanks again.

Oh, and here's to hoping you'll lead another God of War game. Your first one was freakin' Awesome. Didn't care about the second one. Again... graphics are the key as well as good gameplay.

WOW, I love the looks of this game!
It reminds me of my most favorite game so far, which is MOTOR MAYHEM. I have 2 copies of it and one is still unopened. It is for just in case if something happens to the first one. But anyway I have got to get this game. I'm writing the name of it down now and taking it with me to the mall tomarrow an look for it.

GrimReap.987, you are alone...do you hear the crickets? Go away.

Stuntman, watch the Dark Past doc VERY carefully during the Paris portion.

Yo, When are you guys going to come out with a Twisted Metal on the PS3? I love this game but PS2 graphics are a thing of the past. I would love to see a Twisted Metal on PS3 so I can play the original Specter (Old Corvette) in sweet beautiful PS3 detail. Smile
Keep the fanchise going strong this is the best car combat series EVER!

They've already officially announced that Twisted Metal is coming to PS3. Check out the links...

IGN

KOTAKU

It was revealed when you watch the documentary on the new TMHO:ETE game. Numbers flashed on the screen and when deciphered spelled out "Twisted Metal is coming to PS3".

I must admit this game is solid and the content is very IMPRESSIVE. I have always been a Twisted Metal fan and will always will be one. Rock on Eat, Sleep, & Play.

Hope to see new titles for this one in the near future and if not it's been one hell of a ride.

I don't understand why people are still making games for PS2? Shouldn't all new games be made for the new counsel? This seems pretty absurd to me.

Posted on 02.13.08 10:11 AM by Alpha Male

because the ps2 still has life left in it. DarkEde, quit talking to me!

What is the 16 letter code for the music section

Posted on 02.13.08 13:13 PM by Matt

I picked the game up today. Watched the doc , very cool to hear
some behind the scene stories. This game made me the gamer I
am today. It did keep me up. But, like above, where is the 16
character code?

Posted on 02.13.08 14:35 PM by RuntRamone

I love the game!! I can't believe we all had to wait roughly 7 years for a new Twisted Metal game on PS2!! That's ridiculous!!

I have a question for those of you who have already bought the game:

Have any of you experienced a glitch in the game occasionally?? (On my copy, the game freezes up for a few seconds during gameplay and then continues on. Everything just stops: video, audio, everything - like it is paused, but it's not! It's annoying! Sometimes, it happens two or three times per hour of gameplay. )

Do I have a bad copy or is it like this on ALL copies of the game?? (Please reply. )

-Mike

You are not the only one that's happened to. Its happened to me 3 or 4 times, a freeze up for a moment or two. Maybe its a glitch. I think the PS2 can handle the graphics.

Love this game! Never had a PSP so Head On is a totally new experience for me. The Lost levels rock, too!

Posted on 02.16.08 09:36 AM by DarkEde

i just played co op with my brother for the first time and the game became really slow for a while but turned fast again after i dsetroyed 2 opponents, however it didnt happen again in the next stage. the glitch that always happen is that the mr grim special sometimes stuck and cant be fire, if its the joystick problem then other weapon should be stuck too.

btw, i just finished playing co op with my brother both TM lost and head-on and its been 5 years since we played TM like this and i feel satisfaction after destroying all these cars!

now i only hope to see TM on PS3 with great graphic, great gameplay, characters ,special, etc.

I just bought TWISTED METAL HEAD-ON EXTRA TWISTED EDITION today Laughing
If I like it as much as MOTOR MAYHAM I'll buy another copy and archive it.

On behalf of the Twisted Metal fan community, thank you very much for releasing the Twisted Metal Head On Extra Twisted Edition and job well done! This was a great gift for the Twisted Metal fans. I am very happy Sony and Eat Sleep Play have decided to continue this totally awesome series. Twisted Metal on the PS3 is my single most coveted title coming to the PS3 platform. The wait will be agonizing.
